Swans try to keep top five chances alive
SOUTH Barwon will look to take another scalp tomorrow (Saturday, August 23) as they host Colac at McDonald Reserve.
The Swans beat St Mary’s again in Round 16 and sit just two points outside the GFL seniors top five. They now face their biggest challenge yet in a third-placed Tigers outfit that have lost just one game since Round 10.
The two sides last faced off in Round 3, where Colac prevailed by 10 points at Central Reserve. The result this weekend will have massive ramifications for the finals, which are now just two weeks away.
St Mary’s will travel to take on Geelong West, which starts a crucial fortnight for the Saints and their finals aspirations.
The equation is simple – beat the Giants and then Newtown next weekend to play beyond the home and away season.
Bell Park will look to make it six wins from seven games as they host Grovedale at Hi Sushi Oval.
The Dragons will remain in the top five with another win this weekend, before a crucial clash with Leopold to round out the season.
Leopold will take on North Shore, looking to remain in check with the six teams above them. The Lions will need to rely on other results going their way to keep their slim finals hopes alive.
Second-placed St Josephs face St Albans at Herne Hill Reserve, while surprise ladder leaders Newtown & Chilwell will travel to Lara to take on the winless Cats.
