Wednesday Men’s Stableford

A wild and woolly day with a small but determined field heading out to tackle the conditions, the DSR was 75 accordingly. Pieter Egberts was the eventual winner with 37 points. Pieter drove theball exceptionally well on his way to victory. Colin Chinn continued his fine form in the wind to claim another victory in the Winter Classic Play offs finishing in second place with 35 points. Well done boys. Peter Cottam got in the slot on the 5th hole claiming the nearest the pin with a near hole in one with his sidekick Riley Siketa claiming the 13th hole.

Thursday Ladies Stableford, sands vs Torquay A tough day on the course for the ladies on Thursday with the resultant DSR for the day being 78. The girls from Torquay Golf Club travelled five minutes down the highway to challenge the locals. The best score of the day belonged to Sue Browne. Sue made a number of long range putts which helped her take out the comp with 33 points.

The runner-up was Dot Tattersall 29 points. NTP’s went to Sandra Martin on the 5th and Marj Bayard on the 13th. The Sands claimed a strong victory on home soil.

Saturday Stableford

Tough conditions again for the main competition day with heavy rain flooding the course and gale force winds strong enough to blow the froth off your cappuccino. Sixty men decided to brave the windy conditions on Saturday and the DSR showed how tough scoring was at 77. The A grade winner was Jim Demetrious (8) with a short-game not too dissimilar to Jordan Spieth’s, which helped him score 35 points and a NTP on the 17th hole.

The runner-up with 33 points was Chad Olsen. Rob Foster fixed his chipping and went on to become the B grade champ. Rob was modelling his own clothing line ‘RF’ which helped him score 31 points. Tim Hester finally was able to control the driver today and find the cut surface but was stiff to miss out on the major prize finishing with 31 points but lost on a countback. NTPs went to Chad Olsen on the 5th, Kevin Donchi on the 7th, Alan Hartley on the 13th and Jim Demetrious on the 17th.

Saturday Ladies Stableford

A very low field on Saturday for the ladies with the atrocious weather, only three ladies finished the round which contributed to the 75 DSR. Maggie Juniper won with 27 points The runner-up was Mei Lee with 25 points.

Sunday Stableford Medley (Blue & Red Tees)

Perfect conditions for golf today with the sun out all day and mild winds for a change. After cleaning up in the afternoon round of the Lonsdale Open yesterday Paul Allen (5) continued his form with a great score of 39 points to claim the competition today from Paul Thompson (8) on 35 points.
