STRONG scoring, two hole-in-ones and several tightly contested competitions featured across another busy week of golf at The Sands, Torquay and Anglesea.

At The Sands, Henri-Claude Griffiths (29) opened the week by winning Monday 25 May’s medley stableford on countback with 39 points, edging Sean McNulty (15) on the same score.

Wednesday’s stableford produced the strongest overall scoring of the week, with Nigel Dezdjek (12) winning B-grade with 40 points and John McLachlan (21) matching that total in C-grade.

Harry Whitty (10) claimed A-grade on countback after a three-way tie on 35 points.

Jan Swain (22) led Thursday’s women’s stableford with 41 points, while Friday’s competition saw Coby Smith (9) post 41 points to win A-grade and Jason McGowan (17) take B-grade with 37.

Saturday 30 May’s par competition was tightly contested across all grades.

Jim Demetrious (10) won A-grade at +4, Harper Nederpelt (14) edged B-grade at +3 on countback and Hayden Coles (24) took C-grade with +3.

Norma Schultz (24) won the women’s event with +2.

Sunday’s medley stableford delivered the best scores of the week, with Anthony Clayton (15) posting 45 points to win B-grade and Riley Dean (10) taking A-grade with 42 points.

Fletcher Mackay (10) and Shad Celan (18) were Sunday’s winners, recording 38 and 41 points respectively.

Torquay golfers also enjoyed a strong week of scoring, highlighted by a hole-in-one from Jayson Moran on the 12th during Friday’s competition.

Monday 25 May’s stableford was won by Tim Sinnott (6) with 42 points, while Tuesday’s women’s Canadian foursomes went to Robyn Westacott and Di Barker at +10.

Wednesday’s men’s stableford featured Roscoe Holmes (10) winning A-grade with 41 points and Xavier Martin (16) taking B-grade on countback with 38.

Dominic Condon added an eagle during the round.

Max Christie (-3) produced one of the standout performances of the week on Thursday, winning with 39 points and recording two eagles.

Louise Doedee (39) led the women’s field on countback.

Friday saw strong scoring across the grades, including 41 points from Brian Kent (16) in B-grade and 40 from Blake Mios (3) in A-grade. Ronnie Beacom (18) won the women’s competition with 39 points.

Saturday’s Ambrose events produced low team scores, with Jackson Bailey, Brett Hartwig, Leigh Mashford and Tom Mashford combining for 51.625 to win the morning event.

Deb Dohnt (19) topped the women’s stableford with 35 points.

Sunday’s stableford wrapped up the week, with Fred Hansen (15) winning A-grade on 38 points and David Haynes (19) taking B-grade with 36.

Kerri Valle (34) won the women’s competition with 34 points.

At Anglesea, Wednesday 27 May’s men’s stableford was highlighted by a hole-in-one from John Owen on the 16th.

Chris Sawyer (5) won A-grade with 38 points on countback, Peter Caulfield (19) claimed B-grade with 39 points and Chris Mitchell (31) took C-grade with 36.

Thursday’s women’s stableford saw Sally Philip (19) win A-grade with 37 points, while Reyna Futschik (37) topped C-grade with 36.

Another ace followed on Saturday 30 May when Peter Lynch holed out on the 13th during the men’s and women’s stableford competition.

Tim Patterson (16) produced the best score of the day with 42 points to win B-grade, while Wayne Pipe (8) won A-grade with 39 and Jodie Moloney (33) led the women’s field with 38.

Sunday 31 May’s par competition saw Nigel Powers (4) continue his strong form, winning A-grade with +2.

Wendy O’Malley (33) claimed the women’s event, rounding out another successful week of golf across the region.
