Torquay U/17 Champions - back row - Josh Norman, Tyson Windus, Tom Pilgrim and Reef Davie. Front row - Josh Windus, Liam Duffy, Chad Grossman and Seamus Doyle.

THE Torquay Tigers’ batting proved too good for East Belmont at the weekend, winning the T20 U/17 Championship.

The Torquay boys scored 194 runs to East Belmont’s 133 at Spring Creek Reserve.

Torquay parent Steve Grossman said the boys batted first and did extremely well.

“Batting more than 190 in a T20 game is pretty high for that level,” Mr Grossman said.

“The boys were pumped!”

Mr Grossman said the team was coached by Daniel Emmerson, who had been a fantastic asset for the club.

“He is finishing up this year and he’s been a great role model for the boys and we wish him the best of luck.”

During the game, Torquay’s Tyson Windus scored 60, while Chad Grossman scored 43 not out, and Josh Norman scored 28 not out. Of the bowlers, Reef Davie took 2/13.
