THE Torquay Tigers Cricket Club has appointed respected clubman Daniel Emmerson as its A-grade coach for the 2026–27 season.

A Barry Sexton Best clubperson winner, multiple centurion and hat-trick taker, Emmerson steps into the role after years of service on and off the field.

The secondary school teacher has coached across multiple age groups in both cricket and football at the Tigers and said he was eager to help drive the club forward.

“I’m incredibly passionate about this club and proud to be part of its future,” he said.

“It’s super exciting to be leading a proud group of guys, who I know will put in to making this club a force going forward.

“I can’t wait to work with our players, coaches and members to build a strong club and enjoy success together.”

Joining Emmerson’s coaching panel will be well-known club figures David Prowse and Tim Stephens.

Prowse moves into the senior program after several seasons helping develop the club’s next generation through its Cricket Blast and junior programs.

Stephens brings a wealth of experience, having won eight premierships across a 25-year senior career.

In his first season with the Tigers last summer, he claimed the Boak Family Trophy as the club’s champion First XI player.
