Torquay and Jan Juc take on Aussies

Jan Juc’s Daryl Hauenstein won gold in the onekilometre beach run.

LAST month, Torquay and Jan Juc surf life saving clubs joined 310 other clubs from around the country in the pinnacle event of the Surf Life Saving competition calendar.

This year, Torquay took a team of 21 across the Nullabor to the Surf Life Saving National Titles in a Perth.

Along with 6,000 other competitors, Torquay shone across a diverse range of events over the nine-day program. Key achievements include:

U17 Male Surf Board Riding – GOLD – Jayden Schram (back-to-back winner)

U17 Female Board Race – SILVER – Grace Harris

U23 Male (Conditional Boat Age) Surf Boat – SILVER – Pirates (Jacob Morgan, Stephen Christofi, Manning Gratwick, Davis Kontelj)

Jan Juc had three medal winners at the 2018 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

Henry Van Til won silver the U15 Beach Sprint in a lightning fast run at Trigg Beach.

It was Gold for Daryl Hauenstein in the 1km Beach Run. It was a tough run on very soft sand at Scarborough Beach.

Jan Juc claimed silver in the U17 Patrol Competition at Trigg Beach against strong competition from Queensland and New South Wales.
