TORQUAY Boardriders finished fourth at the Sailor Jerry Surftag Australian Championships at Duranbah Beach, Tweed Heads late last month.

Snapper Rocks Surfriders (96.46) won the title with Elouera Boardriders finishing second (78.01) and Merewether third (67.32).

Torquay came into the final on a roll after winning semi No.1 against Elouera, LeBa and Queenscliff.

Todd Rosewall was the standout for Torquay throught the series and finished in third position in the Surfer of the Series, averaging 5.73 for all waves ridden.

“We are stoked with the fourth place finish but we feel we could have gone better in the final as
we posted some big scores in the Semi and Quarter Finals,” Rosewall said.

“The standard of surfing at this event is super hard so to make the final and win our semi shows we can mix it with the best clubs in the country. We really worked hard together as a team and that was our strength, working together as a team and giving each other enough time which is crucial in the tag team format.”

D’Bah Boardriders won their fourth straight Sailor Jerry Surftag Australian Title in the Women’s Division.

Merewether’s Jackson Baker won the Rhondda Harrison Surfer of the Series Award, averaging 6.15 for all his waves ridden in the series
