Torquay Golf Club – August 2, 2018

ON Monday 39 players headed out in the cold and windy conditions for the Vets/Seniors 12-hole monthly game. Everyone managed to finish and the hot roast rolls once again were popular after a cold day.

Gwen Hand won the ladies with 23 points and for the men Bob Darby had 26 points. Only one NTP and that went to Ed Featherston.

Tuesday was another wet and windy day and although 39 players started, only 14 finished. Most of the ladies were in the clubhouse happy to be out of the blustery conditions. Coffees and cake were popular after the battles on the course. Lesley Grebe won A grade with 32 points. Anne Staig took out B Grade scoring 33 points. Well done to all those ladies that finished it looks like you all got a ball. NTPs Jeanette Kent, Lesley Grebe won 2 and Gail Richards 1 and the jackpot.

Wednesday conditions were much calmer for our men and there were some good scores posted. David Hutchinson had 40 points to win A grade. B grade winner Ron Fish scored 38 points and C grade went to Clive Smith with the score of the day 41 points. Cec Browning won the Resort competition today with 38 points. Guest winner David Wilson (Geelong GC) had 31 points. NTPs John Berridge, Evan Huebner, Graeme Sharp, Ian Sheldon, John Bishop and Alan Foss hit the jackpot.

Friday Andy Clark won A grade scoring +1. B Grade winner Reg Costin shot +2. Marg Joyner was the lady’s winner with -2 and our guest winner Nicholas Treble (ocean Grove GC) had +1. NTPs Robert Brozozek, Ronnie Beacom, Marg Joyner and Damien Moelands took out the jackpot.

Saturday Jason Loftus had 39 points to win A grade. B grade winner Barry Hewitt shot 39 points. Robert Tolano won C grade with the score of the day 43 points. Andrea Stadler won the ladies with 35 points. Resort winner Ross Forbes shot 34 points and guest winner Shaun Condron had 38 points. Super 6 winners Andrew Ranner 15 points, Tim Ratcliffe and Bob Gough. NTPs Travis Mancer, Greg Baeck, Ronnie Beacom, Graeme Sharp, Anne Staig, Peter Kaan, Dave McPhail and Don Forsyth the jackpot.

Sunday Joe Magliano had 37 points to take out the men’s competition from Rob Schofield who finished with 34 points. No ladies played and who would blame them the weather again was atrocious. NTPs Mark Franklin, Leon Napper and Ben Chandley hit the jackpot.
