GEELONG United’s inaugural season in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) will draw to a close tomorrow afternoon (Sunday, February 16).
United will face Adelaide Lightning – equally placed on the ladder – hoping to end the season on a high note.
The league’s newest expansion side has had a bumpy 2024/25 season, amassing a six win and 13 loss record so far.
They sit in sixth, two wins and percentage off the bottom of the ladder.
United suffered an 18-point loss to the Perth Lynx (77-95) in their most recent matchup a week ago.
Guard Jaz Shelley was Geelong’s top performer, scoring 25 points and collecting six assists.
Alex Sharp had 16 points, while Hannah Hank scored 12.
Geelong United coach Chris Lucas said the team would be targeting a strong end to the season.
“[The support] from the Geelong community has been imperative. The people who have invested in the team to get them out on the court is a credit to them all,” he said a fortnight ago.
“I’m hoping we can crack a win.”
Tip-off for tomorrow’s game is at noon.
