GEELONG have snapped a three-game losing streak in the WNBL to upset Perth on Tuesday this week in front of a home crowd.

A second half masterclass set the Venom up for the 88-69 victory, handing the Lynx just their second loss of the season.

A tough zone defence from the away side caused some early headaches for Geelong, going down by as much as 12 points in the second quarter.

However, the Venom reset at the main break and didn’t look back, outscoring Perth by 25 points in the second half to pull away and avenge their one-point loss just two weeks ago.

Shifty guard Lily Rotunno enjoyed a career-best night, scoring 21 points and 10 assists and shooting at an accurate 75 per cent rate from behind the three-point line.

Forward Mackenzie Holmes continued her dominant start to the year, adding 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard provided a spark off the bench in her return from illness with 15 points.

The Venom’s win follows a loss to Townsville earlier in Round 4 where they went down by 25 points in a disappointing night.

A 2-4 record puts Geelong into sixth place on the ladder just over a month into the regular season.

They now turn their attention to Southside Melbourne Flyers tomorrow (Friday, November 14) at the Geelong Arena, before a three-game road trip.
