BELLARINE Storm coach Tim Sanderson is confident the group can continue to adapt after sustaining injuries.

They play third-placed Sherbrooke away tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) at 6pm in their sole game in Round 7.

The Big V championship women ladder-leader displayed its flexibility with two victories last weekend, defeating McKinnon 75-64 at home before accounting for Warrandyte 72-52 away.

“They’re very important results, considering quite a few things didn’t go our way,” Sanderson said.

The Storm were without American import Bridgette Rettstatt (knee complaint) for both encounters while Chantelle Hall went off early against Warrandyte with a suspected hamstring injury.

Sanderson said Rettstatt was likely another fortnight away from playing.

The coach praised his team’s versatility against two tough opponents and lauded Lucy Howard, Alivia Osborne and Charlotte Armstrong for stepping up in offence after Hall went down.

While acknowledging the shuffling around the Storm had to do across the weekend, Sanderson said the team didn’t shoot as well as usual.

Overall, he said his unbeaten side was in a great spot with eight triumphs to start the season and he noted banking early wins was important.

Meanwhile, the Storm men are 10th on the ladder with two wins and six losses in championship division.

They play RMIT University away tomorrow at 7pm following their 104-69 home loss to McKinnon in Round 6.
