Wightons Lawyers recently acquired Torquay based business and commercial law firm Palisade, with Anthony Farnan joining the partnership from July 1 last year.

Anthony grew up in Torquay and is lucky enough to continue to live on the Surf Coast and have access to one of the best surfing coastlines in the world.

Wightons is a full-service law firm which was established in Geelong more than 130 years ago and is renowned for its caring and supportive approach to its clients and their legal matters. For Anthony, the decision to join Wightons was an easy one, given the synergy with the other three partners, each of whom bring a unique skill set and tremendous work ethic to the table.

Anthony said one of his key priorities is to ensure Wightons can continue to provide its business clients with high quality legal services in an ever-evolving business landscape.

The traditional law firm model has not been able to keep pace with these requirements and I am proud to be part of a team which is focused on continuing to minimise the barriers between our business clients and the legal support they require.”

Anthony brings more than 12 years of legal experience, which has involved work in private and in-house practice. With a commerce/law degree and involvement in family businesses from a young age, Anthony has a strong focus on the key commercial goals of his clients and the unique business environment in which they operate. He provides logical and pragmatic advice which his clients can rely on to make timely and informed business decisions. He recognises that more often than not, legal and commercial considerations are closely interwoven, and require a tailored legal approach which addresses both sets of considerations equally.

“The best business lawyers are able to give timely and concise advice which is able to be readily understood and acted upon,” he said.

“Such advice also needs to be affordable, given most business clients do not have extensive legal budgets, particularly in the current economic conditions. This is the standard the Wightons team strives to achieve at all times.”
