World’s best return in battle to ring the bell
On behalf Surfing Victoria, Rip Curl and the World Surf League, I would like to welcome everyone to the 59th running of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach.
After a challenging two years of having the event cancelled, we are stoked to see the best surfers in the world return to Victoria and continue the tradition of the longest running surf event in the world.
The event brings incredible benefit to the community not just from an economic point of view but also allowing the next generation of surfers to get up and close with their heroes such as John John Florence, Steph Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Italo Ferreira and the exciting wild card addition of Mick Fanning.
What other major sporting event in the world allows you to be next to your hero whilst they are training for a major competition? It is a truly unique experience that young surfers in Victoria will get to experience.
On-site this year we will see a raft of changes with a new food and beverage area in the Winkipop carpark, plenty of on-site activities from event partners and some special musical guests on-stage throughout the event waiting period, including Indigenous artist Budjerah.
As always the Rip Curl Pro trials will feature the top Victorians in the state, as they battle it out for a wildcard into the main event.
They will join local surfer India Robinson who is a full-time competitor on the 2022 Championship Tour.

A massive thank you goes out to Rip Curl, the Victorian government, World Surf League and the Surf Coast Shire who are committed and long-term supporters of the event.
I look forward to seeing everyone down at the event and hope we get the chance to see the best surfers in the world in the Bells Bowl!
