AS International Women’s Day approaches, CorePlus Geelong, Torquay and Ocean Grove are reflecting on a year of growth, connection and community, and the people who bring the studios to life every day.

For studio owners and friends, Emma Sharp and Niki Leana, the past year hasn’t just been about business milestones; it has been about watching their community grow into something genuinely special.

“A year ago we were focused on building studios and had just opened Ocean Grove,” Emma said. “Now, we’re watching friendships form, confidence grow and people support each other in ways that go far beyond movement. It’s really special to be part of.”

With Geelong celebrating six years this year, Torquay turning four, and Ocean Grove now running for over a year, the CorePlus Surf Coast studios have settled into their communities, becoming familiar, welcoming spaces where people come not just to move, but to belong.

“What makes us most proud isn’t the number of studios,” Niki said. “It’s the people inside them: the connections they build, the friendships they form and the way they show up for each other.”

While International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements and leadership of women, Emma and Niki are passionate about creating spaces that are welcoming, inclusive and supportive for everyone.

“Our studios are led by women, but our community is made up of all kinds of people,” Emma said. “We’re proud to create environments where everyone feels comfortable, supported and part of something bigger.”

At the heart of it all is the CorePlus Surf Coast team, a group of passionate, experienced instructors and staff who lead with care, warmth and heart.

The CorePlus Surf Coast studios have settled into their communities, becoming familiar, welcoming spaces where people come not just to move, but to belong.

“Our team are everything,” Niki said. “They’re not just instructors, they’re supporters, listeners and leaders, and the people who make our studios feel like home. We’re so proud of the culture they’ve helped build.”

Inside each studio, movement becomes more than just a workout. It becomes connection, confidence and community. It’s where friendships form, support systems grow and people feel safe to show up exactly as they are.

“Balance isn’t just physical,” Emma reflects. “It’s emotional, mental and social too. Creating spaces where people feel supported in all those ways is what really matters to us.”

As they look ahead, Emma and Niki are excited about deepening their connections within Geelong and the Surf Coast, working with local businesses, hosting community events and creating more opportunities for people to connect beyond the studio walls.

“There’s so much power in community,” Niki said. “When people come together to support each other, everyone benefits.”

This International Women’s Day, the CorePlus Surf Coast trio of studios is celebrating the women who lead, the people who support and the community that continues to grow around them. It’s a community built on connection, inclusion and belonging.

Because one year on, the story isn’t just about growth; it’s about people, connection and community, moving forward together.
