Human-centered video production

At the heart of Allison Groot's work is a clear purpose: to empower people to tell their stories with confidence.

WITH more than two decades of experience in video production, Allison Groot has built a career around one powerful idea: stories have the ability to connect, inspire and create real change when they are told with intention.

As a founder, creative director and filmmaker, Allison brings a thoughtful, human-centered approach to her work – transforming ideas into visual stories that feel authentic, purposeful and create deep connections.

From a young age, Allison was drawn to storytelling in all its forms, including acting, photography and film.

At 13 years old, she picked up a video camera for the first time, and it felt like an extension of her arm. That moment became a turning point, setting her on a lifelong path as a filmmaker and visual storyteller.

Driven by curiosity and a desire to learn, Allison immersed herself in every aspect of the craft.

Over time, she built a broad and deeply practical skillset spanning filmmaking, marketing, graphic design, advertising, interview techniques, storytelling structures, directing talent, editing and creative leadership.

These skills were shaped not only through formal experience, but through hands-on work, collaboration and a strong respect for people and process.

For the past 22 years, Allison has worked extensively in corporate video production, expanding her expertise across social media content, television commercials, radio ads, corporate films, events, animations and branded storytelling.

She has collaborated with accomplished actors, local personalities and professionals across many industries. No matter the project, her approach remains the same: clear communication, collaboration and a focus on authenticity.

What truly sets Allison apart is her ability to help people feel confident on camera. She understands the vulnerability that can come with being seen and has a natural ability to put people at ease.

By recognising individual strengths and guiding performances with clarity and encouragement, she creates moments where stories feel real and connections feel natural.

As her career evolved, Allison became increasingly passionate about mentorship. She built long-lasting client relationships, guided emerging creatives and shared her knowledge generously.

Through this work, she began to notice a gap in the industry – small businesses were often overlooked, despite having meaningful stories to tell.

That insight led to the creation of Yes Today Media, a video production company built to support small businesses with high-quality, accessible video solutions.

The company reflects Allison’s belief that great storytelling should be achievable, regardless of budget or business size.

Her commitment to empowerment continues through Confidence on Camera, a series of workshops designed to help business owners feel confident creating their own content.

She also offers one-on-one mentoring, providing personalised guidance to help individuals clarify their message and show up with confidence.

To further simplify the process, Allison careated Lil’ Studio, a new line of audio-visual products designed to make video creation more approachable, and is currently developing Reelzio, an intuitive video editing platform built specifically for business owners.

At the heart of Allison Groot’s work is a clear purpose: to empower people to tell their stories with confidence. Whether behind the camera or guiding others to step in front of it, she continues to shape a more accessible, human-centered future for storytelling.
