Australian psychedelic rockers Pond will be bringing their high energy to the Barwon Heads Hotel next month.<\/p>\n

The Perth band will be playing all their top hits and some of their new tunes on March 21 as part of their regional tour.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2008 by trio Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson and Joe Ryan, Pond is well known for their electrifying live performances.<\/p>\n

The band was named NME’s The Hottest New Band in the World in 2012 and has long been associated with Tame Impala, with members of both groups – including Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker – working together on musical projects over the years.<\/p>\n

Pond’s most recent album, Stung! which was released last year, dives into playful songwriting, sound tinkering and workshopping.<\/p>\n

Allbrook, the quintet’s frontman, said the band couldn’t wait to get down to Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n

“It’s so fun playing these smaller towns. It feels well within our comfort zone, especially in summer.<\/p>\n

“Trundling around the coast in your shorts and playing the occasional sweaty pub gig between swims and parmis. It’s kinda the dream.”<\/p>\n

Allbrook said the band hadn’t heard too much about Barwon Heads but felt a natural order of things was in place in the town.<\/p>\n

“There’s salt in the air and AFL in the pubs.”<\/p>\n

Fans can expect a mixed bag of songs from Pond’s repertoire including hits Paint Me Silver and Daisy, as well as tunes from Stung!, the band’s 10th full-length release.<\/p>\n

“Coupla newies, coupla oldies, Joe dressed like he’s just finished gyprocking and me potentially passing out from fluid loss on stage,” Allbrook quipped.<\/p>\n

“You know, guitar histrionics and ass-kicking.”<\/p>\n
