INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women in our community and recognise the progress we’ve made towards gender equality.<\/p>\n

It’s also a day to acknowledge the challenges that remain, and the collective effort needed to build a fairer future.<\/p>\n

This year’s theme, ‘March Forward,’ calls on us all to keep pushing for meaningful change.<\/p>\n

Here in Greater Geelong, we are proud to honour the women who contribute to our community every single day.<\/p>\n

Whether they are leaders in business, advocates for social justice, champions of education or dedicated volunteers, their work strengthens our region in countless ways.<\/p>\n

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the City of Greater Geelong hosts the annual Women in Community Life Awards to recognise women who have made a lasting impact in our region.<\/p>\n

This year, these awards will be presented on Wednesday, 5 March, at The Story House, Geelong Arts Centre.<\/p>\n

The awards highlight contributions in four categories: Leadership and Advocacy, First Nations Woman, Human Rights, and Strengthening Healthy Communities.<\/p>\n

Each category reflects the diverse ways women are making a difference.<\/p>\n

It is always inspiring to see the stories of nominees \u2013 women who have dedicated themselves to advancing gender equality, building stronger communities and improving the lives of others.<\/p>\n

The Women in Community Life Awards shine a light on those achievements and remind us of the power of leadership and advocacy.<\/p>\n

Beyond these celebrations, several other related events are coming up across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.<\/p>\n

One of the standout occasions is the 2025 Monica Hayes Award for Women, which will be held at Scotchmans Hill Winery at 2.30pm on Thursday, March 6.<\/p>\n

This special event features guest speaker Jenny Taing-Sheehy and promises to be an afternoon full of many valuable insights.<\/p>\n

Jenny is a respected leader in the legal and financial sectors, as well as a passionate advocate for various community groups.<\/p>\n

With an impressive career spanning law, regulatory work and non-profit leadership, Jenny brings a wealth of experience to this year’s event.<\/p>\n

Guests will enjoy afternoon tea and a complimentary glass of bubbles while celebrating the achievements of women who have made a difference in our region.<\/p>\n

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate, reflect and recommit to the work ahead.<\/p>\n
