BARWON Water is in the final stages of completing a complex section of the Armstrong Creek sewer system.<\/p>\n
The works will see a new section of the Armstrong Creek urban growth area connected to Barwon Water\u2019s main outfall sewer which collects sewage from around the Geelong region and transfers it to Black Rock water reclamation plant for treatment.<\/p>\n
Barwon Water general manager of infrastructure services Paul Northey said it was the third major connection in Armstrong Creek and would cater for new development near Boundary Road.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe works included the connection of a halfmetre T-piece to the nearly two-metre outfall sewer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a big project with contractors digging a seven-metre deep excavation to expose the main outfall sewer before the new tee piece could be fitted.\u201d<\/p>\n
Six pumps were used to bypass sewer flows and operated 24 hours a day for three days while the connection took place.<\/p>\n
Mr Northey said Barwon Water was committed to supporting the region\u2019s growth through delivering high quality, affordable and secure water and sewerage services.<\/p>\n
The majority of works have now been completed with the project expected to be wrapped up by the middle of this month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
