BARWON Heads’ IGA supermarket has been recognised as among the best independent supermarkets in the state at this year’s Victorian IGA Awards of Excellence.<\/p>\n
The annual awards formally acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of Victoria’s independent retailers.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads IGA took home three awards at the ceremony, held earlier this month: Medium Store of the Year, Medium Grocery & General Merchandise Department of the Year, and Medium Delicatessen Department of the Year.<\/p>\n
The supermarket, located in Bridge Road, has recently been through a major refurbishment.<\/p>\n
It now features a significantly expanded range and improved categories such as fresh floral, cut cheese and a serviced delicatessen.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads IGA owner Andrew Maud and his team are also attracting local shoppers and seasonal tourists with their focus on presentation standards and consistent pricing across the store.<\/p>\n
“We’re incredibly proud that we have been recognised with three awards, including Medium Store of the Year at the 2025 Victorian IGA State Awards of Excellence,” Mr Maud said.<\/p>\n
“Since we’ve completed a significant refurbishment of our store, we’ve been able to expand our range, offering shoppers even more local products and great value.<\/p>\n
“We would like to say a big thank you to our shoppers and the local community, and to our amazing team for all their support, we’re feeling very grateful.”<\/p>\n
The Victorian IGA Awards of Excellence were judged on a range of criteria,<\/p>\n
including customer service, community pride, department excellence, brand values, merchandising and the stores’ overall performance.<\/p>\n
The 21 awards were presented at a ceremony hosted by television personality and former competitive swimmer Giaan Rooney.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads IGA will now progress to the National Awards of Excellence in July, where they will go up against state category winners from across Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
