PARENTS for Climate have officially launched their own booklet to provide educators with tools to embed sustainability into early\u00a0learning programs.<\/p>\n

The booklet, Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy for Children’s Healthy Futures, was officially launched on Friday last week at Woodlands House Childcare in\u00a0Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n

The resource aims to empower young children to understand the importance of clean energy and features play-based activities, case studies and practical guidance.<\/p>\n

Woodlands House Childcare is replacing its gas hot water system with an energy-efficient heat pump that will cut energy costs, improve air quality and serve as a learning experience.<\/p>\n

Parents for Climate development director Laura Grufas said the event was more than a book launch and was about showcasing what is possible when embracing clean\u00a0energy solutions.<\/p>\n

“With their new heat pump installation, Woodlands House is not only teaching children about demonstrating it in action \u2013 helping families see the financial and health benefits of going gas-free.”<\/p>\n

The booklet was released as part of the groups Solar Learning initiative, which is designed to drive a future powered by clean energy.<\/p>\n

Unlike the school sector, early learning centres have minimal access to energy education and support in transitioning to clean energy.<\/p>\n

Leading expert in early childhood education for sustainability Dr Sue Elliott said Renewable Energy for Children’s Healthy Futures is a much-needed resource for educators.<\/p>\n

“This Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy for Children’s Healthy Futures booklet is a much-needed resource that will help early childhood educators implement the EYLF V2 (Early Years Learning Framework for Australia) sustainability principle.<\/p>\n

“It is an exciting initiative that will promote children’s learning about energy conservation and renewable energy \u2013 helping build the foundations for a sustainable future.”<\/p>\n

Parents for Climate and Goodbye Gas will also host a Smarter Homes, Cleaner Energy event with the aim of providing solutions for renters and homeowners to improve energy efficiency, cut bills, and transition away from gas.<\/p>\n
