SOME of Victoria’s best beaches, including those on the Bellarine, will undergo works to address erosion and improve beach access.<\/p>\n
Announced by Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos, $15 million from the Victorian government will go towards improving the safety along the states coast.<\/p>\n
Beaches in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff will be included in the restoration works, allowing critical repairs following storm damage in 2024.<\/p>\n
The Borough of Queenscliffe will receive funding for seawall repairs in Point Lonsdale while ramp damage and sand fencing is fixed at the Queenscliff Dog Beach.<\/p>\n
“It is important that our beaches continue to be protected and cared for so local residents and visitors can continue to access and explore our coastlines safely now, and in the future,” Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said.<\/p>\n
In other parts of Victoria, dune protection, repairs to stairs, walking trails, boardwalks and more will also take place.<\/p>\n
“Delivering these critical repairs will ensure Victorians can continue to enjoy access to our beautiful beaches and coastline year-round,” Mr Dimopoulos said.<\/p>\n
“We’re supporting coastal land managers to care for and protect coastal areas for the community’s safety and enjoyment, both now and for future generations.”<\/p>\n
Funding has also been awarded to improve coastal infrastructure along the Great Ocean Road, where $2 million will address storm surge impacts in key locations, including Torquay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
