{"id":102458,"date":"2025-04-22T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-21T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=102458"},"modified":"2025-04-17T14:12:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T04:12:11","slug":"youang-surgery-centre-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/youang-surgery-centre-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Youang Surgery Centre opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A MAJOR construction milestone has been achieved at the site of the Barwon Women&#8217;s and Children&#8217;s, with the newly expanded Youang Surgery Centre now open.<\/p>\n<p>The modern and purpose-built facility will be the home of surgery and endoscopy services, taking over from the ageing Gretta Volum Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The Youang Surgery Centre consists of four theatres, covering general surgery, urology, max fax, ENT, gynaecology and plastics.<\/p>\n<p>Victorian Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne, Geelong MP Christine Couzens, Bellarine MP Alison Marchant and Corangamite federal member Libby Coker visited the newly expanded centre last week.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/04\/MO-01047_14868.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Corangamite federal member Libby Coker, Bellarine MP Alison Marchant and Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne were given a tour of the newly expanded facility.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Horne welcomed the upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was fantastic to be in Geelong to see the new and expanded Youang Surgery Centre, speaking to patients and staff about the difference it&#8217;s going to make having modern and accessible healthcare close to home,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Couzens said the centre was &#8220;a huge milestone&#8221; for the Barwon Women&#8217;s and Children&#8217;s, which would &#8220;provide more local jobs and ensuring families in Geelong have access to high-quality women&#8217;s health, maternity and paediatric care&#8221;.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_102459\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-102459\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102459 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-16-1-1.jpg?_t=1744862982\" alt=\"Youang Surgery Centre\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-16-1-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-16-1-1-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-16-1-1-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-16-1-1-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-102459\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new Barwon Health Youang Surgery Centre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The move paves the way for the new Bellarine West Specialist Outpatient Clinic to be built in place of the Gretta Volum Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The space will have additional multi-day beds, birthing suites, operating theatres and outpatient clinic rooms.<\/p>\n<p>It will also deliver a new neonatal and parent care unit, expanding the capacity and function of the existing special care nursery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A MAJOR construction milestone has been achieved at the site of the Barwon Women&#8217;s and Children&#8217;s, with the newly expanded Youang Surgery Centre now open.
