{"id":102523,"date":"2025-04-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=102523"},"modified":"2025-04-17T14:06:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T04:06:25","slug":"ginger-monkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/ginger-monkey\/","title":{"rendered":"Ginger Monkey gets new groove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY coastal caf\u00e9 haven Ginger Monkey has a reinvigorated menu and layout following a change in ownership.<\/p>\n<p>Local couple Linda and Dan have taken the reins of the Baines Crescent establishment, following previous owners Jayne, Cath and James stepping away after nine years at the helm.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger Monkey 2.0, as the new owners like to call it, still has the &#8220;same good food, great coffee and top company&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A massive thanks to Jayne, Cath, James and team. They&#8217;ve made Ginger Monkey so much more than just a caf\u00e9. It&#8217;s a space where friendships are made, mornings are brighter and regular days feel less ordinary,&#8221; they said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/04\/DSC4157_65556.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ginger Monkey is located in Baines Crescent, Torquay.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For us, we&#8217;re here to serve up your favourite coffee and meals, but also create a space where you feel at home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want Ginger Monkey to keep being the place that makes your day a little bit better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The biggest changes to Ginger Monkey are a new all-day menu and the addition of meat food options.<\/p>\n<p>Sangas and wraps are a big feature, as are salad bowls that include daily fresh ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The biggest change is we are not vegetarian anymore; we&#8217;ve introduced meat to the menu,&#8221; Linda said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Still about 60 per cent of the menu can however still be made vegetarian. We&#8217;ve kept this in mind for our customer base who like these options. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The beef brisket has been selling very well so far, it&#8217;s a favourite, as is the ham and cheese toastie.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Turkish eggs are another highlight!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She said the decision to shorten the menu and make it all day will help cater to a larger audience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;During the weekdays we have lots of people coming for sandwiches at lunch, as well as weekends visitors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We plan on updating the menu regularly to keep it interesting for the locals who come all the time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will also be most seasonal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/04\/DSC3941_65610.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mikro Coffee Roasters is now being used at Ginger Monkey. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Linda said a change has been made to the layout of the venue to allow for better workflow.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;ve been here before, sometimes with the takeaways it gets a bit crowded at the front.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By moving the front serving desk, it&#8217;s easier for staff to handle the rushes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ginger Monkey has shifted to using Torquay&#8217;s Mikro Coffee Roasters as its coffee merchant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are the best coffee roasters around here,&#8221; Linda said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/04\/DSC3977_65560.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The mushroom ragu has been another popular choice on the new menu. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve also leant on them to help us speed up our service of coffee and workflow behind the coffee machine with new equipment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have kept the great quality but made it quicker. With the new equipment, we have cut down about 20 seconds from making each coffee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/04\/DSC8386_65574.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The front counter has been shifted to assist with workflow, particularly during peak times.
