A COMMUNITY run which would see participants race the steam train from Queenscliff to Drysdale has been cancelled for this year<\/p>\n
The Great Rail Run has been called off due to lower-than-expected registrations and an increase in cost for an already expensive event.<\/p>\n
An email sent out earlier this month highlighted that even with a late rush of entries, event organisers would still lose a significant amount of money if they held the race.<\/p>\n
“We understand that this will be disappointing for many and please know that we have explored all available options,” the email stated.<\/p>\n
The run, organised by PB Events, was to include a 21.1km, 17km, 10km and a three leg 17km relay event.<\/p>\n
All registered participants will receive a full refund for the May 4 event.<\/p>\n
Although the Great Rail Run has been called off, PB Events are still planning all future events as normal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
