GEELONG disability and community support provider genU announced today (Wednesday, April 30) that chief executive officer Clare Amies would step down from her role.<\/p>\n
The decision was made with what genU described as “careful and strategic consideration” as the organisation enters the third year of its strategic plan implementation.<\/p>\n
The outgoing CEO led the organisation though significant transformation, including mergers with Tasmanian disability provider Li-Ve Tasmania and Western Australia-based Activ Foundation.<\/p>\n
Board chair of genU Ingrid Williams said Ms Amies, who was appointed to the role in June 2020, leaves the organisation in a position of stability and strength.<\/p>\n
\u201cClare has brought clarity, compassion and determination to her role, guiding genU through a time of great transformation with a strong focus on our mission and the people we support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Amies will remain in her role until her successor has been found, with a national recruitment process currently underway.<\/p>\n
In a message to staff, she said knowing genU was in safe hands made the decision to step down easier.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a privilege to lead this organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m proud of what we\u2019ve achieved together, and confident in genU\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to supporting a smooth and thoughtful transition over the months ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Amies\u2019 time at genU has not been without its battles, including a reported $30 million loss over the 2023-2024 financial year and a man arrested last year following allegations of suspected fraud targeting the organisation.<\/p>\n
No changes will be made to genU\u2019s services or support, and the executive team will continue delivering key strategic priorities.<\/p>\n
Ms Amies\u2019 contribution will be celebrated with a formal event later in the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
