A GEELONG Cats premiership player has joined the fight against Motor Neuron Disease and become an ambassador for the 2025 Big Freeze Geelong.<\/p>\n

Irish-born footballer Zach Tuohy will be joining other local figures in sliding into icy waters on June 1 at St Mary’s Anthony Costa Oval.<\/p>\n

This year, the Big Freeze Geelong has set itself a lofty $100,000 target to “help beat the beast.”<\/p>\n

Tuohym who retired at the end of 2024 after playing 288 AFL games, and James Breust, Drysdale footballer and nephew of FightMND champion Neale Daniher, will share the ambassador role this year.<\/p>\n

“Being an ambassador for this year’s event, particularly the year that Neale Daniher is awarded Australian of the Year, is exciting for myself,” Tuohy said.<\/p>\n

“I am enjoying being part of the Big Freeze Geelong team.”<\/p>\n

Big Freeze organiser Graeme Reid said he was rapt to have Tuohy on board this year.<\/p>\n

“Zach is going to be a great ambassador for us!<\/p>\n

“He’s also going to be sliding for us, so he’s going to have a big impact.”<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj, former mayor and St Marys life member Peter Murrihy and St Mary’s president Sally Flynn will also be sliding into the ice come June.<\/p>\n
