{"id":103070,"date":"2025-05-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=103070"},"modified":"2025-05-02T16:21:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T06:21:08","slug":"collage-collation-delights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/collage-collation-delights\/","title":{"rendered":"Collage collation delights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A BAKER&#8217;S dozen of local Bellarine artists have teamed up to deliver this year&#8217;s Collage Collation exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Run by the House Gallery at Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House, the showcase will open tomorrow, May 3, featuring collages made in a range of styles and from varying materials.<\/p>\n<p>Artist Anita Armytage said all 13 artists had different ideas about what collage is and how they approached it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some people, like me, I use recycled glossy magazines that people give me and other people paint their own paper with watercolour or acrylic and then chop it up and use that.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/AnitaArm_03918.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"555\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anita Armstrong likes to use glossy magazine cutouts in her works.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got people who use a mixture of painted and even found things like string and cloth and this year we&#8217;ve got textile collage as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The inspiration is all different and the subject matter, there&#8217;s flowers and fish and houses and landscapes, portraits, a bit of everything but all using but all using some form of collage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Collage Collation has become somewhat of a tradition at the House Gallery and a common rotation in the exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Armytage said it is a popular showcase, run for the past four years, mostly because it is something slightly different and strays away from the likes of paintings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The public seem to really enjoy the fact that the whole exhibition is collage and we&#8217;ve had really good feedback.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/AnneMcMah_03914.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"955\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">13 artists will have their work on display as part of the annual exhibition, including Anne McMah.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Exhibitions at the Bellarine gallery change every five weeks. With a fibre exhibition just wrapping up, Collage Collation is part of the variety the gallery offers.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Armytage said seeing the reaction of people who come in and look at the works is satisfying and gratifying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of people say they want to try it, they&#8217;ve always wanted to try collage and when they see the variety of works there they say &#8216;You&#8217;ve inspired me&#8217;, which is really nice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Collage Collation will run until\u00a0June 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A BAKER&#8217;S dozen of local Bellarine artists have teamed up to deliver this year&#8217;s Collage Collation exhibition.
