GEELONG United’s NBL1 women side is hopeful of keeping its unbeaten streak going tomorrow night (Saturday, May 10) against a strong Dandenong Rangers team.<\/p>\n
United head into the match at The Geelong Arena in blistering form, having won their first seven games on the season.<\/p>\n
In their last time out, Geelong beat the Sandringham Sabres 101-94.<\/p>\n
Jaz Shelley and Gemma Potter shone bright for Geelong, combining for 53 points and 18 rebounds.<\/p>\n
The club’s other three starters in Lilly Rotunno, Dakota Crichton and Tanielle Knight all chipped in double figure points scores of their own.<\/p>\n
NBL1 coach Megan Moody said she loved what she was seeing from her side so far this season.<\/p>\n
“It’s been a fantastic start to the season for us. Every game has provided some feedback, positive and negative.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got a good group who really enjoy being around each other on and off the court.<\/p>\n
“It’s always really nice to have a team who are wanting to get extra reps, do extra sessions and have high expectations.<\/p>\n
“It makes it fun. We enjoy our training, we enjoy games, and it’s that old saying of when you’re enjoying something you typically do it well.”<\/p>\n
She said this week’s match with Dandenong was sure to be a tough one.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had some key focus points, and we are up for another extremely tough game against Dandenong.<\/p>\n
“They are an incredibly well coached side and have some exceptional players in their team, so we need to make sure we are well across that.<\/p>\n
“We will try give ourselves every opportunity to put ourselves in the best position to getting another win.”<\/p>\n
United’s men’s side is currently in 14th on the NBL1 South ladder with 3 wins and 4 losses.<\/p>\n
Their opponents in the Rangers are last on the table, making this an ultra-winnable game for Geelong.<\/p>\n
