{"id":103518,"date":"2025-05-15T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=103518"},"modified":"2025-05-14T17:34:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T07:34:32","slug":"hockey-dad-ready-to-rock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/hockey-dad-ready-to-rock\/","title":{"rendered":"Hockey Dad ready to rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Australian surf rockers Hockey Dad are sure to be bringing the party vibes to the Barwon Heads Hotel tonight (Friday, May 16) as part of their huge 2025 Regional Tour.<\/p>\n<p>The iconic two-piece will be playing some of their top hits as well as new material from 2024 album Rebuild, Repeat.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey Dad has dominated the Australian music scene for the past 10 years, amassing three top 15 albums on the Australian ARIA Charts.<\/p>\n<p>There 2020 album Brain Candy reached number two on the charts and was nominated for Best Record at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Years before, Blend In had success of its own, crawling up to sixth on the ARIA Charts.<\/p>\n<p>Three of the songs on the album also made the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2017-2018.<\/p>\n<p>Lead guitarist and vocalist Zach Stephenson said Hockey Dad was fired up to bring some of their raw energy to Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited, man; it should be a really fun weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think we did a show with the Grogans down there a few years back and we had an awesome time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we are down, we will try to get a few waves, play some golf and venture around the town.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stephenson said the most recent album Rebuild and Repeat differentiated a bit from some other Hockey Dad music, delivering a more softer and poppy side.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a departure from some of our older stuff for sure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve tried to simplify some of the songwriting styles we&#8217;ve been doing. It was super fun to record and we will be playing a fair bit of it at Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been changing up the sets a bit, a few older ones will be peppered in, and a bunch of new stuff.
