FORMER state water minister and former Geelong-based MP Lisa Neville has been appointed the new chair of the board of Greater Western Water (GWW).<\/p>\n
Ms Neville has decades of experience in the water sector and government.<\/p>\n
Presently the chair of Barwon Health’s board and the Community Advisory Committee for Port of Geelong, she is also a non-executive director of organisations including The Torch, and Employers Mutal Limited.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville, who was the member for Bellarine for 20 years, served as Minister for Water from 2014 to 2022.<\/p>\n
GWW is the water authority for the western part of metropolitan Melbourne and the municipalities immediately to the west and north-west. These include Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley, Wyndham, Yarra, Moorabool, Hume and Macedon Ranges.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville said she was looking forward to supporting the organisation through a period of significant challenge and opportunity.<\/p>\n
“It’s a privilege to be appointed chair of Greater Western Water at such a pivotal time. I’m committed to working closely with the board and executive team to stay focused on delivering for our customers.<\/p>\n
“This is especially important as we navigate current challenges. A key priority for me will be to address ongoing issues with the new billing system and working closely with customers to rebuild their trust.<\/p>\n
“As our region continues to grow, I look forward to supporting GWW in its role meeting the increasing demand for housing and the essential water infrastructure that underpins our sustainable development.”<\/p>\n
GWW stated Ms Neville’s appointment came at a crucial time for GWW, following significant customer billing and payment issues after a billing system upgrade.<\/p>\n
