{"id":104903,"date":"2025-06-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=104903"},"modified":"2025-06-11T15:57:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T05:57:58","slug":"teaching-the-art-of-photography-on-the-bellarine-and-beyond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/teaching-the-art-of-photography-on-the-bellarine-and-beyond\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching the art of photography on the Bellarine and beyond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SINCE 2013, the Bellarine Peninsula\u2019s own Brendan Waites from Ocean Grove Camera &amp; Photo has been teaching people how to take photos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brendan\u2019s passion for photography, his relaxed and friendly nature and his deep understanding of all things was photography are the perfect recipe to help people become better photographers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy journey with photography began with a simple point-and-shoot camera,\u201d Brendan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat started as a hobby soon blossomed into a passion, and eventually, a way of life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve spent countless hours learning the technical aspects, experimenting with different styles, and refining my own artistic vision.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/468131221_1846815332_04396.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"890\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courses are offered for people coming in at an entry level through to those with years of experience.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to pass that knowledge on to others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brendan runs workshops and photo tours out of his Ocean Grove store and he loves teaching people.<\/p>\n<p>From entry level courses to the brand-new range of photo-tours, including a fantastic four-day Bellarine tour, where Brendan gets participants to some stunning local landscape photography opportunities at the right time, there is a workshop or photo-tour for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>There is zero experience required. From folks unpacking a brand-new camera for the first time, to photographers with years of experience and know-how, Brendan can get them shooting like a pro.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/DSC_0044_04423.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"472\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The workshops are also about getting people to open their eyes to the world around them and see details they may have missed before.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brendan also offers all-inclusive photo-tours to the Great Ocean Road, the Murray and Mallee regions, Tasmania&#8217;s stunning Tarkine region, Cradle Mountain and East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>He is also one of the instructors at the world-famous Bright Festival of Photography held in Victoria\u2019s high country each October.<\/p>\n<p>These workshops aren&#8217;t just about learning f-stops and shutter speeds. They&#8217;re about opening people\u2019s eyes to the world around them, seeing details they might have missed before, and finding each person\u2019s unique way of expressing themselves through photography.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops explore the stunning landscapes of the Bellarine, from the iconic Ocean Grove stairways to Clifton Springs, to Point Lonsdale and more.
