{"id":10521,"date":"2018-05-23T07:53:47","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T07:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=10521"},"modified":"2018-05-25T04:10:18","modified_gmt":"2018-05-25T04:10:18","slug":"the-start-of-an-affair-with-red-red-wine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/the-start-of-an-affair-with-red-red-wine\/","title":{"rendered":"THE START OF AN AFFAIR WITH RED, RED WINE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WINE LOVERS are set to sample some of the region\u2019s finest Pinot Noir on the weekend as the inaugural \u2018A Pinot Affair\u2019 arrives to Little Malop Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sold-out event will feature more than 20 local producers and world-class cool climate Pinot Noir from across the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and Moorabool Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong\u2019s newly rejuvenated West End precinct will host wine aficionados as they enjoy tastings alongside live music and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event will offer the perfect day out for the wine enthusiast to enjoy the finest of Geelong\u2019s Pinot Noir all under one roof,\u201d Wine Geelong president Scott Austin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith more than 20 producers from across the Geelong region offering tastings, patrons will also be treated to live music within an elegantly styled marquee complimented by gorgeous floral displays by local business, Bloom College.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the event sold out quickly as they had to adhere to a 350-person capacity but were hoping to expand on that in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m aware that it sold out quite early, it\u2019s fairly limited capacity (350 people) due to some of the council requirements but we\u2019re hoping to expand on that in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the local traders are excited, it brings together the whole hospitality side of the wine industry. They support Geelong wines on their lists and venues-and it will be great to bring the farms to town; to really show the exemplary high-quality wines with a particular focus on Pinot Noir that this region is famous for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Austin said Wine Geelong would have half their members exhibiting with between 50-60 wines available for people to taste.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be wines that are currently available on the local markets and no doubt some special wines brought in by the producers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the day would be a fantastic event for \u201cour wine region\u201d and Geelong in general which is becoming a really \u201cincredible destination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are lucky enough to boast some of the best Pinot Noir in Australia, including Bellarine Peninsula drop Yes Said The Seal, which took out the Australian Pinot Challenge Award in 2017,\u201d Mr Austin said.<\/p>\n<p>For more information of the other participating wineries, head to pinotaffair.com.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WINE LOVERS are set to sample some of the region\u2019s finest Pinot Noir on the weekend as the inaugural \u2018A Pinot Affair\u2019 arrives to Little Malop Street.
