VICTORIA has unveiled a new plan to grow local industries, boost advanced manufacturing and create secure jobs across the state.<\/p>\n
Industry and advanced manufacturing minister Colin Brooks launched the Victorian Industry Policy, which sets out a framework to strengthen key industries, adopt cutting-edge technology and build on the state’s economic strengths.<\/p>\n
“This policy builds on the Economic Growth Statement to grow the industries that will power Victoria’s future \u2013 and making sure Victorians are the ones who benefit from it,” Mr Brooks said.<\/p>\n
The policy focuses on aligning skills with industry needs, expanding Victoria’s industrial base, supporting emerging industries and ensuring energy security during the state’s transition.<\/p>\n
The plan also highlights modern construction methods, like robotics and sustainable design work already under way at Modscape in Essendon Fields.<\/p>\n
Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive officer Paul Guerra said the new policy gave businesses confidence to grow.<\/p>\n
“This is the strongest signal yet that Government is listening to business. “It gives industry the confidence to invest, expand and employ.<\/p>\n
“We’re particularly encouraged by the Government’s focus on implementation and collaboration \u2013 because when business and government work together, Victoria wins.”<\/p>\n
More than 680,000 extra jobs have been created in Victoria since September 2020, according to the latest figures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
