{"id":10597,"date":"2018-05-30T09:55:20","date_gmt":"2018-05-30T09:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=10597"},"modified":"2018-06-05T05:58:46","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T05:58:46","slug":"shire-gives-out-some-small-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/shire-gives-out-some-small-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Shire gives out some small grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE creation of a virtual European tour for aged care residents and installation of disability inclusive play equipment at a preschool are among successful projects in the Surf Coast Shire\u2019s latest Small Grants Program round.<\/p>\n<p>Building of a replica 1920s bathing box in Torquay and installation of streetscape art in Anglesea are also among 19 community projects spread across the municipality, which will share in $35,686 in allocations.<\/p>\n<p>Shire mayor David Bell said the grants would help mobilise important community work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to be issuing these grants, supporting organisations which are often unheralded but contribute so much to our communities, and to community connections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe projects endorsed represent the categories of arts and culture, community initiative, recreation and leisure and environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey help fulfil our ambition of empowering people to take action building vibrant and healthy communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The council will recognise the March round small grant recipients at a ceremony on June 14.<\/p>\n<p>Projects to receive grants in the March round are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ocean Mind youth program Torquay \u2013 foam surfboards ($3,000)<\/li>\n<li>Business and Tourism Anglesea \u2013 streetscape art ($4,500)<\/li>\n<li>Repair Caf\u00e9 Surfcoast \u2013 venue hire, signs, printing ($2,000)<\/li>\n<li>Moriac Preschool \u2013 disability inclusion playground equipment ($1,859)<\/li>\n<li>Anglesea Men\u2019s Shed \u2013 first aid course ($1,020)<\/li>\n<li>Anglesea Kindergarten \u2013 pre-school swing installation and landscaping ($4,730)<\/li>\n<li>Aireys Inlet Combined Churches \u2013 Hearing For Our Community headsets ($890)<\/li>\n<li>Working Equitation Geelong \u2013 lightweight jumping poles ($1,000)<\/li>\n<li>Probus Club of Torquay Jan Juc \u2013 effective communication project ($1,300)<\/li>\n<li>ANGAIR \u2013 taxidermy project ($500)<\/li>\n<li>Torquay Historical Society \u2013 bathing box display ($3500)<\/li>\n<li>Bonnie Upwelling \u2013 Christmas Carolvan ($500)<\/li>\n<li>Anglesea and District Historical Society \u2013 photo display ($576)<\/li>\n<li>U3A Surfcoast \u2013 office administration laptops ($1,500)<\/li>\n<li>Freshwater Creek Riding Club \u2013 safer jump installations ($1,311)<\/li>\n<li>Lorne Community Hospital \u2013 virtual Europe tour m($2,000)<\/li>\n<li>Jan Juc Preschool \u2013 wildflowers sculpture garden ($2,500)<\/li>\n<li>City Harvest Freshwater Creek \u2013 support community market garden ($2,000), and<\/li>\n<li>Writers Victoria \u2013 Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail ($1,000).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE creation of a virtual European tour for aged care residents and installation of disability inclusive play equipment at a preschool are among successful projects in the Surf Coast Shire\u2019s latest Small Grants Program round.
