{"id":106537,"date":"2025-07-11T10:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T00:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/fire-under-control-at-cunningham-pier\/"},"modified":"2025-07-11T10:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T00:44:07","slug":"fire-under-control-at-cunningham-pier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/fire-under-control-at-cunningham-pier\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire under control at Cunningham Pier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FIRE Rescue Victoria has responded to stop a fire at Cunningham Pier in Geelong earlier this morning (Friday, July 11).<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services were called to the pier just before daylight this morning with reports of flames under a bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters arrived on the scene after four minutes to fight the incident, and took close to two and a half hours to bring the fire under control.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was deemed safe just after 9am.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At 6.47am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident at Cunningham Pier, Geelong after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported hearing an explosion and seeing flames under a bridge,&#8221; an FRV spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a fire under a bridge<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FRV&#8217;s specialist fireboat was deployed to assist in the response.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Victoria Police and the power company were also on scene.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIRE Rescue Victoria has responded to stop a fire at Cunningham Pier in Geelong earlier this morning (Friday, July 11).
