CITIPOWER and Powercor are undertaking one of the biggest trade recruitment drives by a Victorian electricity network in years.<\/p>\n

The two organisations are on the hunt for 37 new apprentices and trainees as part of an annual recruitment program, with positions available in Geelong and other metro and regional areas.<\/p>\n

Head of operations and delivery Barry David said the last three intakes represented the largest investment in trade recruitment in more than a decade.<\/p>\n

“CitiPower and Powercor is a fantastic place to start your career in the electrical industry.<\/p>\n

“So many of our apprentices go on to have a lifelong career with us and we make sure all of our recruits are supported from day one with their own mentor and access to leaders from across the business.”<\/p>\n

The new recruits will join 118 apprentices and trainees already within the network and play a role in delivering power to more than 1.2 million homes and businesses.<\/p>\n

As part of the four-year apprenticeships, the program is seeking lineworkers, cable joiners, substation electricians and meter technicians.<\/p>\n

There are also traineeships available for electrical designers and protection and control testers.<\/p>\n

Mr David said the positions and roles available are exciting, and offer both new challenges and opportunities to support customers.<\/p>\n

“The people we recruit to these roles will be designing new power lines, building new overhead and underground connections or responding to emergency weather events.<\/p>\n

“We are looking for people who want to learn, love working with a team and want to make a positive difference in the communities we operate in.”<\/p>\n

People of all ages, genders and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with the selection process involving written, practical and interview-based selection criteria.<\/p>\n

Applications are open now and will close on August 3.<\/p>\n
