{"id":107001,"date":"2025-07-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=107001"},"modified":"2025-07-23T16:22:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T06:22:55","slug":"celebrating-five-decades-of-richard-clapton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/celebrating-five-decades-of-richard-clapton\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating five decades of Richard Clapton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AUSTRALIAN musician Richard Clapton first landed on the music scene five decades ago with his debut album <\/strong><em><strong>Prussian Blue<\/strong><\/em><strong>, a milestone he is celebrating with a national tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting in August, the <em>Best Years of our Lives <\/em>tour will celebrate his more than 50 years on stage and the soundtrack to many lives.<\/p>\n<p>Written in Germany, <em>Prussian Blue<\/em> was one of Australia\u2019s first major singer-songwriter albums and included the popular song <em>I Wanna be a Survivor<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Clapton went on to release many more singles and albums, including the No 1 hit <em>Girls on the Avenue <\/em>in 1975.<\/p>\n<p>His music endeavours didn\u2019t stop in the studio or on stage, Clapton also produced INXS\u2019s second album and joined the Party Boys on tour around Australia.<\/p>\n<p>While his music reached success in the charts, Clapton was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1999 and in 2010 was inducted into the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a 50-year career, the musician shows no signs of slowing down, releasing his first cover album in 2021 featuring songs by Bib Dylan, Coldplay, The Doors and more.<\/p>\n<p>Audience members at his coming performances can expect to hear hits including <em>Trust Somebody, Capricorn Dancer, Down in the Lucky Country and Girls on the Avenues<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Clapton will perform at the Barwon Heads Hotel on August 2.<\/p>\n<p>For tickets and more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/barwonheadshotel.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>barwonheadshotel.com.au<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN musician Richard Clapton first landed on the music scene five decades ago with his debut album Prussian Blue, a milestone he is celebrating with a national tour.
