{"id":107347,"date":"2025-08-05T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=107347"},"modified":"2025-07-30T20:22:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T10:22:18","slug":"volunteers-come-together-for-planting-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/volunteers-come-together-for-planting-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers come together for planting initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS from the Bellarine North Rotary have come together for a community plating day in St Leonards as they look to give back to the local community.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the day was to enhance the natural environment and remove invasive weeds that threaten the local ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Funding from the Victorian Government&#8217;s Port Phillip Bay Fund made the day possible, while Bellarine Bayside provided support in organising the weeding and planting initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Students from St Ignatius College also got involved with members of the St Leonards Volunteer group who all chipped in throughout the day and contributed to its success.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers also had the weather on their side as they went about their day working in groups and demonstrating what can be accomplished when community groups unite.<\/p>\n<p>Planting in the area helps to restore natural ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity, and boost coastal resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Bellarine North Rotary Club is often looking for ways to give back to the local community through both hands-on volunteer efforts and financial contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Bellarine Bayside runs community planting days throughout the year, guiding volunteers in planting native vegetation, helping stabilise dunes, support wildlife habitats and improve biodiversity.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and coming Community Planting Days, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/bellarinebayside.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bellarinebayside.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS from the Bellarine North Rotary have come together for a community plating day in St Leonards as they look to give back to the local community.
