BENNETT Racing is looking to build on a successful run in the past 12 months as it looks ahead to the fast-approaching spring season.<\/p>\n

Nathan Bennett, founder of the Geelong-based horseracing syndicate, said there had been exceptional results from their crop of horses.<\/p>\n

For stakes-performing horses, Bennett Racing is triking at a 29 percent win or place rate, which is on par with the industry benchmark.<\/p>\n

The syndicate had seven individual stakes winners in 2024, earning a total of just over $6 million in prize money.<\/p>\n

“It’s pretty large for a small group, we’re not a big syndicator or anything,” Bennett said.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully we can strive towards those [numbers] again this year and have another record-breaking season.”<\/p>\n

Bennett said preparations were tracking well for the coming season, which begins in September, and named some horses for punters to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n

“There’s a filly called Military Tycoon who is more than likely going to resume in the Moir Stakes, which is a Group 1 at Moonee Valley.<\/p>\n

“It’s usually a pretty good starting point for those two-year-old fillies that had a good campaign as a two-year-old. She’s come back good, she’s trialled up well and she’ll head that way.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got a mare called Snitzanova who’s returned back into work now. She’ll be sort of back end of Spring when she’s ready and maybe towards the summer races.<\/p>\n

“Baraqiel, he’s heading towards the Manikato Stakes, which is Grand Final Eve. He’s got the form on the board and he’s just got to stay sound, and if we can keep him sound he’ll hopefully win us a big one over the Spring.”<\/p>\n

Fawkner Park is another horse hoping to be invited to race in Hong Kong, which Bennett said would be an incredible experience for the owners.<\/p>\n

“It would be pretty exciting for all the owners to get the horse to Hong Kong and head over there and have a bit of a race trip, which would be unbelievable.”<\/p>\n

Jimmy Recard and Stay Cosmic are two colts both hoping to feature in the Caulfield Guineas in October.<\/p>\n

“It’d be a big achievement if we can get both colts in the Guineas,” Bennett said.<\/p>\n

Horseracing syndicates are designed to allow the average punter to join the thrill of horseracing by purchasing shares for a reasonable price. Ownership prices can vary from $1,000 to $5,000.<\/p>\n
