FOR more than 15 years, the Festival of Glass has given artists the chance to exhibit their glass works, and this year is no different as the expo returns on August 31.<\/p>\n

Held at the Eversley Street Community Hall in Drysdale, the annual event celebrates and highlights glass and its diversity, featuring local and regional artists.<\/p>\n

As part of this year’s expo, artists will have the opportunity to display their works while demonstrations take place alongside the raffle and glass trail.<\/p>\n

New to this year’s event is the glass gallery and two additional exhibitors displaying their works.<\/p>\n

Festival of Glass president Mercedes Drummond said this year’s event would feature the unveiling of new installations in the back garden.<\/p>\n

“The new glass installations are going to be unveiled at the expo and all that work has been done by volunteers from different glass art groups, so apart from them working on their own work, they also give up their time and produce some glass art for the community to enjoy.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited about the unveiling of the glass artwork we’re going to have in the back garden that started years ago.<\/p>\n

“We’re trying to have as much glass art as possible, which allows people to actually have lunch while they’re doing their glass artwork and enjoying the beautiful artwork that is being created.”<\/p>\n

Ms Drummond said she hoped the installations will continue to increase as part of the group.<\/p>\n

Entry into the festival is $2 for anyone over the age of five, with all money raised from the event going towards the group’s efforts in setting up a flamework class.<\/p>\n

“Our objective is to actually have torches in the studio that people will be able to do glass blowing; that’s the next exciting journey for us.” The Expo will run from 10am until 4pm.<\/p>\n
