LIMINAL Gallery and Lab will soon open the doors to its biggest exhibition when the Liminal Art Prize returns for this year.<\/p>\n

The non-acquisitive national prize, formally known as the Hue and Cry Art Prize, celebrates diverse visual art practice across Australia, open to emerging and professional artists.<\/p>\n

As part of the Art Prize, 2D works across all mediums will be on display, with the gallery offering a supportive platform for all artists equally.<\/p>\n

Unlike other art prizes, all artists who have submitted works into the exhibition will have their pieces displayed as the gallery works to champion thoughtful, conversation-sparking work and a supportive platform for all artists.<\/p>\n

Because all works are displayed, the unique format also means there are no finalists for the prizes, and the winners are decided by an independent panel of art professionals.<\/p>\n

Co-director of Boom Gallery and Boom Creative Spaces Ren Inei will be one of the judges, bringing his understanding of the challenges of being an artist to the table.<\/p>\n

This year’s prize pool exceeds $9,000 and also provides artists with exhibition opportunities and professional exposure.<\/p>\n

Prizes include the major prize of $5,000 and an additional $1000 cash prize, the people’s choice prize of a three-week solo exhibition, commended prizes and Best Photo Award.<\/p>\n

The major prize winner will be announced at the Opening Celebration on August 30, while all other winners will be revealed at the Closing Celebration on September 27.<\/p>\n
