The community\u00a0survey can be completed online on Council\u2019s\u00a0website, queenscliffe.vic.gov.au, or you can download a printable copy of the survey from our website or pick up a hard copy at Council\u2019s offices at 50 Learmonth Street, Queenscliff.<\/p>\n<p>Written feedback submissions to share ideas, suggestions and support for Destination Queenscliff are also very welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Hard copy surveys and written feedback submissions should be addressed to Lenny Jenner, Chief Executive Officer, Borough of Queenscliffe and returned by email to info@queenscliffe.vic.gov.au, by post to PO Box 93, Queenscliff, 3225, or in person at Council\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n<p>Community feedback about Destination Queenscliff is invited until 4pm on Friday June 15.<\/p>\n<p>If you have not had a chance to see the draft concept plans at one of our open house sessions, they can be viewed on council\u2019s website and they are on display in the foyer of council\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E-waste collection update<\/strong><br \/>\nOur environmentally responsible community has ensured that council\u2019s annual e-waste drop-off\u00a0day continues to build year on year.<\/p>\n<p>We received a total of 9,758 kilograms of e-waste items at Council\u2019s drop-off day this year, an increase of almost 18 per cent compared to last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<p>The e-waste received at the 2018 drop-off day was made up of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5,741 kilograms of televisions and computer monitors<\/li>\n<li>484 kilograms of hard drives, laptops and keyboards<\/li>\n<li>1,681 kilograms of printers<\/li>\n<li>70 kilograms of electrical cords\/keyboards<\/li>\n<li>1,782 kilograms of household appliances such as radios, telephones and power tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Council has collected a total of 56,429 kilograms of e-waste since introducing the dropoff event in 2012. Congratulations to everyone who participated. It was great to see so many of you in the queue at the drop-off event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Queenscliff Low Light Festival welcomes you<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil is delighted to welcome the beginning of our long-awaited Low Light Festival, which will kick off in just over a fortnight. When Low\u00a0Light starts on Friday June 22, our public spaces, galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants will play host to an array of art exhibitions and installations, film premieres and screenings, spoken word and literary readings, theatre and music performances.<\/p>\n<p>Low Light will also showcase the best of local ,food and wine. From degustation menus featuring locally foraged ingredients, to wine tastings and whiskey education, there\u2019ll be a series of culinary options to whet every palette.<\/p>\n<p>Low Light is being produced in partnership with the Borough of Queenscliffe, the Queenscliff Music Festival and the State Government. It will bring the finest international and local arts and culinary talents to the Borough with the aim of increasing visitation in what is typically the quietest time of the year for our business operators.<\/p>\n<p>Events will be hosted from Friday to Sunday for four consecutive weekends from Friday June 22 to Sunday July 15. Council wishes everyone a wonderful time at Low Light \u2013 come and celebrate the Winter Solstice with us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for Community\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Grants closing soon<\/strong><br \/>\nThe application period for Council\u2019s Community Development Grants will close at 4pm on Friday June 8 (tomorrow). If you are planning to submit an application, or you have an application in progress, please be sure to provide it to us in time for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The Grant program Guidelines and Application Form can be downloaded from Council\u2019s website, queenscliffe.vic.gov.au, or picked up from our offices at 50 Learmonth Street, Queenscliff. If you have any questions about your application, please contact our Economic and Community Development Program Leader on 5258 1377.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conservation Volunteers\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Australia foreshore works<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil would like to acknowledge the significant contribution made by Conservation<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers Australia (CVA) to the good health of our foreshores in the Borough of Queenscliffe. Volunteers from CVA visit the Borough twice a week to plant trees, remove weeds and collect rubbish at foreshore areas in Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.<\/p>\n<p>To give you an idea of the positive impact of these works, CVA volunteers have planted 390\u00a0trees, removed weeds from 58,700 square metres of our foreshore and collected 568 kilograms of rubbish in the last financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Council thanks CVA for their wonderful and generous contribution to the maintenance of our coastal environment<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Council has been delighted by the number of people who have visited our Destination Queenscliff open house sessions to learn more about the draft concept plans for this exciting project.
