{"id":109171,"date":"2025-09-04T10:33:55","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T00:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=109171"},"modified":"2025-09-04T10:33:55","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T00:33:55","slug":"ocean-grove-gets-pumped-ride-centre-starts-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/ocean-grove-gets-pumped-ride-centre-starts-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Ocean Grove gets pumped: ride centre starts soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WORKS on the District Ride Centre in Ocean Grove are expected to start as soon as next month, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/design-works-progress-on-district-ride-centre\/\">City of Greater Geelong<\/a> awarding the tender for the project.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the city selected World Trail Unit Trust to construct the $2.98 million facility in <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/design-works-progress-on-district-ride-centre\/\">Kingston Park<\/a> after an open tender process that received four submissions.<\/p>\n<p>The city will enter into a contract once the supplier has met the pre-contract conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The company was recommended as the preferred tenderer after achieving the highest overall score and providing best value for money for the bulk earthworks, in-ground hydraulics, civil works, minor building construction and landscaping.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/design-works-progress-on-district-ride-centre\/\">Community Reference Group<\/a> has been working through a series of workshops to progress the detailed design plans.<\/p>\n<p>The layout and features take into account ideas and feedback raised in community consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Able to accommodate about 100 riders at once, the centre will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mountain bike jumps including table tops, hip jumps, wall ride and other features<\/li>\n<li>Six lines including a 60m return and five dirt jump lines for all skill levels, from 75m to 200m long<\/li>\n<li>130m of asphalt pump track, designed to encourage rider progression and also able to be used by skate and scooter riders, and<\/li>\n<li>A central landscaped space for spectators, gatherings and for riders to rest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said World Trail Unit Trust was well known in the industry as a leader in sustainable solutions and innovative mountain bike trail design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to award World Trail with the construction tender as the company is an expert in catering to all skill levels and inspiring more people to embrace BMX and mountain bike riding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To view the design plans, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au\/OGDRC\">yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au\/OGDRC<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WORKS on the District Ride Centre in Ocean Grove are expected to start as soon as next month, following the City of Greater Geelong awarding the tender for the project.
