{"id":109379,"date":"2025-09-11T04:00:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T18:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=109379"},"modified":"2025-09-10T16:57:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T06:57:19","slug":"surf-coast-fc-secures-promotion-after-3-1-triumph","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/surf-coast-fc-secures-promotion-after-3-1-triumph\/","title":{"rendered":"Surf Coast FC secures promotion after 3-1 triumph"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SURF Coast FC\u2019s senior men will be promoted for a second consecutive year in 2026 after beating the Heidelberg Eagles and locking in a top two finish on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Presently in State League 3 North-West, Surf Coast will move up to State League Division 2 thanks to the 3-1 triumph over the Eagles in front of a huge home crowd at Banyul Warri Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Club President Brett King said the lead up to the game was nerve-racking, but the tension settled as his side took a three-goal lead into half time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTechnically needing a draw to be promoted, being three up early certainly calms the nerves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the whistle blew, it was amazing to see so many of our young players and supporters be able to run onto the ground to join us with the club song and to get the celebrations started. It was a true club celebration and this is something that we as the committee and senior men\u2019s group have focused on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King expressed the significance of the achievement for both the club and the Torquay community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor many years, we were close to being promoted out of State League 4 and didn\u2019t quite get there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/promotion-within-arms-reach-for-coasters\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">Last year we did<\/a> and this year we have again been promoted, so it is more about realising our goal and the personal and club sense of achievement that we hold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also lets us bring to the Torquay community a higher level of soccer for our supporters to watch and to showcase our amazing sponsors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he was immensely proud of <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/surf-coast-fc-earns-historic-promotion\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">what the playing group and coaches had achieved<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile it can easily been seen that the players and coaches are the ones competing to get the results, there are many important people who enable them to be effective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving a club in harmony encourages more people to want to volunteer and in turn, that makes providing a great community service a little easier for all and ultimately will lead to more successful outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King also thanked their club partners, Coerver Coaching Geelong and Cafe El Nido, and their other sponsors for their commitment in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have been critical to enable us to bring a successful 2025 season and we know they see that back with our community engaging with them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish all our teams in the local competition luck over the next two weeks, with 13 out of 18 local teams making finals.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SURF Coast FC\u2019s senior men will be promoted for a second consecutive year in 2026 after beating the Heidelberg Eagles and locking in a top two finish on Saturday afternoon.
