THE team behind Queenscliff’s top pub are honouring the legacy of one of the town’s oldest watering holes by bringing back its original name.<\/p>\n
The former Bellarine Hotel has been officially renamed The Esplanade Hotel \u2014 a name steeped in history.<\/p>\n
Since 1879, the well-established pub has been a place of community connection, common enjoyment and a rendezvous spot for locals and travellers alike.<\/p>\n
More recently, it has become a place to gather for a meal by the fireplace, to watch the footy on big screen, and for visitors to step off the ferry and feel right at home.<\/p>\n
Venue manager Mitch Kovacic said the magic of regional pubs like The Esplanade Hotel lie in the local community.<\/p>\n
“As we’ve been working to restore and refresh the building, our locals have passionately shared their ideas for what they want from their pub \u2014 and we’ve listened.<\/p>\n
“One suggestion we were especially happy to embrace was to honour its history by returning to the original name, The Esplanade Hotel.<\/p>\n
“It’s a name steeped in history, one that many still use today. If we’re going to reopen our doors, we’re going to do it properly!”<\/p>\n
Kovacic hopes the next era for the famous pub will be embraced wholeheartedly by locals and visitors.<\/p>\n
“Guests can expect warm interiors, a newly revamped beer garden with kids’ playground, modern sports bar, cosy bistro, friendly faces, and a menu stacked with pub classics and fresh produce.<\/p>\n
