This Saturday, Mr. Meaner, Geelong\u2019s newest cover-band, will be playing the best of party rock, funk, alternative and classic rock. Inspired by leading ornithologist Tim Low\u2019s award-winning book, this performance explores the Australian origins of songbirds, \u201cthe birds that can sing\u201d. Such is their evolutionary significance, one may ask whether human music would have reached the heights it has, had the first songbird not sung in an Australian rainforest. Accessible for all ages, this work encourages the audience to contemplate the origin of birdsong and the importance of Australia\u2019s rich and colourful bird history.
