{"id":109732,"date":"2025-09-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=109732"},"modified":"2025-09-17T17:55:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T07:55:48","slug":"joeys-upset-eagles-to-progress-to-grand-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/joeys-upset-eagles-to-progress-to-grand-final\/","title":{"rendered":"Joeys upset Eagles to progress to Grand Final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ST JOSEPH&#8217;S have upset the first seeded Newtown &amp; Chilwell to progress straight to the Grand Final of the GNL A Grade competition.<\/p>\n<p>Joeys led at every quarter break to topple the Eagles 46-41 at West Oval on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles had lost just one game in the home and away season, coincidentally against St Joseph&#8217;s in Round 7.<\/p>\n<p>They now exercise their double chance this weekend against Geelong West this week, while Joeys have a week off and will await the winner.<\/p>\n<p>Following their Elimination Final win over St Mary&#8217;s, the Giants continued their run of form on Sunday as they knocked out the higher-ranked South Barwon.<\/p>\n<p>Despite trailing at quarter time, the Giants finished strong and scored four of the last five goals to secure the 45-42 upset.<\/p>\n<p>They face their biggest challenge yet in Newtown &amp; Chilwell tomorrow (Saturday, September 20) who are the reigning premiers and have featured in the past 10 grand finals.
