THREE of the region’s top basketball bodies are teaming up to host Koorr Koorr Nigitji (Coming Together), an annual celebration of the sport.<\/p>\n
Geelong United, Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association and Surfcoast Basketball Association are uniting under a shared mission to grow the sport, strengthen development pathways, and deliver a more inclusive and connected experience for players, coaches, and families.<\/p>\n
The festival of basketball will take place on November 1 and 2, and will be held across the six venues Geelong United host community games each week.<\/p>\n
Teams will play a minimum of four games against other Victorian Junior Basketball League clubs, country associations and community teams from across the nation.<\/p>\n
Geelong United chief executive officer Mark Neeld said the partnership between the trio is about more than basketball.<\/p>\n
“It’s about building a stronger, more connected sporting community,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Together, we’re laying the foundation for long-term success and opportunity across the region.”<\/p>\n
Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association general manager Nick Stamatopoulos said he was excited to be supporting athletes in their own backyard.<\/p>\n
“This is a step in the right direction for all three associations to work together in the best interests of basketball across the region.”<\/p>\n
Surfcoast Basketball Association president Leon Sayers added his support for the partnership.<\/p>\n
