A SEA of yellow will descend on the Geelong Waterfront next year for the 2026 TAC People\u2019s Ride.<\/p>\n

Australian cycling legends Cadel Evans, Phil Anderson and Simon Gerrans gathered earlier this week in Barwon Heads to officially reveal the spectacular 2026 edition yellow jersey for the signature event.<\/p>\n

The TAC People\u2019s Ride offers two ride options, the 124km Cadel Classic, which is the same course as the professionals will be racing, and the 63km \u2018Cadel\u2019s Hometown\u2019 which is a more achievable ride option.<\/p>\n

Next year\u2019s spectacular will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Cadel Evans\u2019 own historic 2011 Tour de France victory.<\/p>\n

Evans reflected on his period of success with fond memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cWearing the yellow jersey at the Tour de France was the pinnacle of my career,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“I’m really looking forward to seeing 3,000 people riding in yellow on January 31. It’s going to look awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evans said he was looking forward to seeing a sea of yellow brighten up Geelong in January next year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Evans encouraged as many people as possible to jump on their bike and compete in the coveted event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe TAC People’s Ride is for everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom former pros to weekend riders, when you’re on a bike we’re all the same. Like most things, the more you practise, the better it gets. Ride regularly, enjoy the process and you\u2019ll be ready.”<\/p>\n

Fellow Tour de France competitors Phil Anderson and Simon Gerrans have also worn the coveted yellow jersey over the course of their careers.<\/p>\n

Anderson said wearing the bright colours was \u201clife changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember it like it was yesterday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing a sea of yellow for the People’s Ride will be a great tribute to Cadel and the event\u2019s tenth year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerrans said the event course would appeal to all types of riders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe course has flatter sections and some climbs, so whether you’re new to riding or looking for a challenge, there\u2019s something in it for you.\u201d<\/p>\n
