FILMS from the winners and finalists of the North Bellarine Film Festival will grace the big screens again for the St Leonards Film Society’s Short Film Festival.<\/p>\n

The inaugural event will promote the films that have featured in the North Bellarine festival in recent years, supporting emerging and young filmmakers in learning the craft.<\/p>\n

Working closely with the North Bellarine Film Festival, the St Leonards group has sponsored the People’s Choice Award at its annual event and is excited to host its own version.<\/p>\n

St Leonards Film Society secretary Ellen White said the group was approached by the North Bellarine Film Festival to host the event.<\/p>\n

“We’re delighted to do that because not everyone has the opportunity or the time to go to the North Bellarine Film Festival,” she said.<\/p>\n

“By us putting it on, we are not only promoting North Bellarine, we’re also promoting short films, which are a really good way for emerging filmmakers and youth filmmakers to actually learn the craft.”<\/p>\n

The upcoming festival is an opportunity for people to experience the films and develop an understanding for the work that goes into them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

The St Leonards event promises a social afternoon, bringing people together who have a shared interest in film and encouraging those interested to join a club in their local area.<\/p>\n

Ms White said she is looking forward to seeing the talent within the filmmaker community, with the understanding it’s not easy to make a film.<\/p>\n

“It does take a bit of time and effort, but people have to start somewhere and here’s an opportunity for them to see where they start.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully they will also go along to the North Bellarine Film Festival and see a whole lot of new films that they haven’t seen before.<\/p>\n

“It would be nice if people round up some of their friends and families and bring along some drinks and nibbles and enjoy a nice Sunday afternoon out.”<\/p>\n

The St Leonards Film Society’s Short Film Festival will be held on Sunday, October 12 at the Indented Head Hall.<\/p>\n
